Food. Calm. Knowledge.  Three things you could have enjoyed this past Monday, March 12, 2012.  The exchange students, Barbara Koinegg, gave a presentation of her native country, Austria, named “Traveling to Austria”.  The presentation was held in Huella Colegial at 7:30 p.m.

Barbara Koinegg is a exchange student. She gave a presentation about her native country, Austria.

Not so many RUM students know about Huella Colegial. Some ignored the place where they can go to study or to relax from the university, in a safe place. Huella Colegial is run by students for the students.

The objective of the presentation was to establish the difference between Austria and Australia. Also, to know more about that small country of Europe. For example, learn about its geography, economy, culture, clothing, landscape, cities and even its gastronomy.

The music stopping in the background announced the start of the presentation at 7:30 p.m. The activity was given in English because Barbara, the speaker, knows English and German, which is the official language of Austria.

The audience was very interested in hearing Barbara talking about Austria. She talked about her home and shows where it is located. Since Barbara is from Austria, this made her an expert about the wonders of her country and she could talk about more specific details.

As a result of her amazing description of Austria the audience was amazed. Some of the issues that surprised the audience were how cheap are the university credits and how pure Austrians kept their country.  The great variety of pictures posted in the presentation support Barbara’s words and gave a clear picture of Austria in the public minds.

When she finished almost all of the people present were willing to visit Austria someday. There were some Austrian’s chocolates and cookies for sale. Also, the staff of Huella Colegial served a typical plate of the Austrian culture.

The plate was a delicious and vegetarian soup served with a bit of sour cream in the middle and a slice of bread.  The pleasure of tasting this dish came at no extra cost for all the people present.  The exquisite smell of this meal was circulating, but it wasn’t as good as it taste.

After the presentation, the staff of Huella Colegial serves a typical food plate of Austria. It was a vegetarian soup with a bit of sour cream and a slice of bread.

After the presentation, Huella Colegial presented the movie Green Lantern. Like every Monday, in Huella Colegial was movie night. It’s a moment to enjoy a great movie without having to go to the theaters.

As soon as you mentioned that the exchanged student gave a presentation, the feature story captured my attention even more. It’s interesting how much we can learn from one student and free because of Huella Colegial’s “by the students for the students”.
