Metro Area Places To Hangout for LGBTT Community.

            If you want to have fun, and you don’t have a clue were to go in the middle of the night, don’t worry, like you are a thousand of people who need a place to hangout. Challenge yourself to discover a place in the metro area where you can feel it’s your environment; a place full of people that understands the struggles that LGBTT community has and tries to forget everything by having just fun. These kinds of places are denominated as “Gay friendly” and are all around Puerto Rico areas.

The metro area is located in the north of Puerto Rico is the destination for tourist when they visit the island because of the variability in that zone. Life after dark, visiting new hanging places and having a good time; were you experience dancing, drinking and singing just has if the night has no ending.

You maybe are asking yourself, where are those amazing places? After asking some LGBTT people about where they hang out to have a good night, the first place they mention is Angelu’s Café, located in Eleonor Roosevelt #239 Avenue in Hato Rey. Near to this nightclub we can find a bar named “El Cojo” in the Eleonor Roosevelt as well. Another place a little more expensive where you can have fun is the pub Circo Bar that is nearby to the zone of Condado. Without departing from the area we can find Nightclub Eagle, an extraordinary place in the heart of Condado. Finally but not least important is the Atmósfera Lounge, located in Ponce de León Avenue in Santurce.

–          Angelu’s Café

Angelu’s Café is a place where you can find fun in a “wilder” way but in a good and safe envirement. Open from Thursday to Saturday, you will enjoy playing pool table, drinking some beers or listening a great variety of live music like DJ’s, bands, acoustic and more. “This kind of place is a place where some homosexuals frequently go to find sexual encounter or a person to spend the rest of their life. You will see a few drag queens with style and others who have issues. Sadly some of the homosexual in there don’t respect others where this can cause a lot of fights in the place,” said Lemmuelle, 21, a student of the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus.

–          “El Cojo”

“El Cojo” is recognize for being an economic “Gay friendly” bar where you can buy some exotic drinks without getting bankrupt, drinking the whole night. It is frequently visited by the LGBTT community since it is open the seven days of the week. It is the most common place to see homosexual and lesbians having a good time plying pool. The atmosphere is also frequented by heterosexual couples who respect the rights of the gay community, people can dance since it has multiple areas but its specialty is the bars, it has a variety of bars. It has no private parking but it offers good security.

–          Circo Bar

Circo Bar is a fancy pub with designated areas for smoking, sports bar, a VIP room, four spectacular dance bars and a video bar exclusive for fights and sports games. It is open seven days of the week from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. You will enjoy a secure place with its own private parking. “I remember the first time were I went to Circo Bar, it is an excellent place to meet nice people with your same interests. I should mention that Circus is not a cheap place, which means high prices for exotic drinks but I think it is worth it since it is more elegant than other places. People are nice and friendly, they treat you with courtesy and respect,” said Omar Abdelgader, 25, an open homosexual social worker student from Guaynabo City.

–          Nightclub Eagle

If you want a liberal and extravagant night, the Nightclub Eagle is the one for you. Located in the heart of Condado in Santurse, Puerto Rico it is an exclusive place for gay men. It offers music from DJ’s featuring a New York and Miami styles with a luxuries furniture zone. Also, your drinks are serve by sexy bartenders dressed in black latex clothing. It has a private parking, private areas for reservation and two dance zones. It is open Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

–          Atmósfera Lounge

Atmósfera Lounge is a place used for LGBTT events but also it is a restaurant for special events and privates activities. “If you want to eat in a fancy restaurant either with your love partner or with friends, this is the perfect place for you to be completely yourself. It has a variety of areas to dance and two bars to have a good drink,” said Lemmuelle. It doesn’t have a private parking, the security depends on the organizer of the event happening in this lounge with an extra area for just sitting. The activity room is only open when there is an activity but the lounge and restaurant zone is open for everyone to enjoy from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Some people often go to places with others intentions, this may resolve to having fun with being themselves, accepting who they really are in the inside a human with feelings. Considering this people should go and discover new places, new people, and a new environment that can be a good method to overcome fear to feel they are free. The LGBTT community has some places to be who they are.

Concluding, people are responsible of their own actions, bars are often a bad influence for people, it is not just an entertainment but it can mean trouble for other; people like to have fun, just drinking, dancing and singing to have a good and different time for relaxation. The places mentions in this article are mention because of the interviews and some research made.
