The “Plaza de Colón”, remodeled after the earthquake of 1918, now part of the city center and is one of the most beautiful in Puerto Rico. At night it becomes a point of celebration for many elderly people. At Christmas and on special occasions this square is the center of attention.
The Catholic Church at the plaza “Our Lady of the Candelaria” was built in 1836 but was first erected in 1780 before the earthquake. Many catholic’s around de town go to this church every Sunday morning with their families. It is a lovely place to visit.
Friend’s Café is one of the most visited coffee shops in the town. It is where most adults and elderly people go for their everyday coffee. At night the young people use this place as a great hangout with their friends. Is an excellent place to stay for studying purposes.
Ricomini is a great establishment that is worth visiting. This bakery is known mostly for their famous and well known “Brazo Gitano”. When you walk in you have a sense of happiness and joy.
Smokecity is a well known location for all young people around Mayagüez. Here they sell alcoholic beverages and other refreshments.On Thursday’s, many students go to this place, among others, to relax and be with friends.
This is a historic theatre called “Yagüez” that has been over 100 years in existence. Here the performing arts perform daily. Here they create great works of art and inspires the audience.
This is the beach near the “Litoral”. It has great sunsets that inspire me. When I pass near that beach I am always amazed how beautiful it is.
This locale is called the “Litoral”. Many activities occur anually at these location. This place is unique due to many things, but most of all, the flags give a certain design that is unmatched.
“Costa Tio Mon” is a restaurant located in the “paseo Litoral”. This establishment is meant to come at night. The great food and great environment makes this place worth going to.
The stadium “Isidoro García” has a great history of baseball. It is located in Mayagüez and it well known. The 10 foot statue inspires us to be greater and to strive always for more.
You can see from a far the people practicing soccer in the field on a weekend. Groups of friends, instead staying at home, decided to do something productive, that is, playing a sport. This shows that there are still people that prefer doing something outside rather than staying inside their house.
This is a tree from the Colegio. It is one of the most beautiful trees that are in our campus and it is very pink because of the flowers that give birth the Spring season. Everytime I pass I look at the tree and it reminds me that I have to keep going and never give up.
Nicole Marrero, 19, started playing piano again since it was her hobby when she was younger. Even though she lacks time, when she plays the piano in the Colegio she enjoys every minute of it. “I like to play outside as a way to relax and get a way of the same routine”.
