A regular isle at a small supermarket in Mayagüez. This is were locals buy their everyday products for household meals. Many of these products have various hazards which aren’t completely known to most consumers.
Local eggs from Puerto Rico. Eggs have always been atributed to a good source of protien but when but is isnt the whole truth. Is egg consumption bring you closer to a heart attack?
Local dairy milk. Milk has always been know as natures perfect food and an excellent source of calcium. Did you know milk consumption uses more calcium then what it gives you?
Commercial cereals consumed today. Most of these cereals contain BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene). Real cereals are oats, barley, and wheat.
Commercial white bread. Contains about 15 different ingredients. Besides it’s few nutritional facts it is very low on the nutritional scale.
Puertorican coffee. Contains theobromine which is a neurotoxin. Coffee affects the human nerve system, which can have severe effects on the body.
Monster, one of the most popular energy drinks. It Is extremely harmful to the human body. This product is very acidic and effects the blood.
Extra virgin olive oil, know to be “healthy”. In contradiction it can cause the blood to be less fluid. This is do to the acct that it is a extremely high source of fat.
Store-bought Dried Fruit
A small serving of a various mix of store-bought dried fruit. Being fruit it has certain nutritional qualities, but the preservatives needed overlap these qualities causing it to have high various contrary values as well. Many of these contain sulfur dioxide, which can cause or aggravate lung diseases.
Protein bars, this regular diet product brand promotes it’s these bars as a meal replacement. They are regularly used as part of a diet or health products, but various ingredients like soy, which is high in fat might indicate other wise. This soy fat is eliminated with the neurotoxic chemical, hexane.
Various “healthy granola products and brand being displayed. In reality granola is actually a sugar based product. Being a sugar based product means that much o this will convert to fat or trans fat which affects blood flow.
Diverse flavors of bottled and canned sodas served. Over the years many health hazards have been released related to sodas. A serious one is the amount of phosphoric acid it contains.
A microwavable pack of popcorn out of the microwave and served to be eaten. Recognized for the simplicity of making this salty snack, it contains a health secret hardly known. The wrapper contains harmful chemicals perfluorooctanic acid which makes the non stick lining, but when heated the reaction can be related to cancer and infertility.
Various packs, types and flavors of commonly found chewing gum. Mostly utilized for betting rid of bad breath or after meal flavors, in excess it has certain side effects. The act of chewing sends signals to the brain and stomach that it must digest food, but the lack of food may cause the stomach acids created to damage or perforate stomach walls.
A warm cup of coffee sweetened by brown sugar. Characterized by it’s color for being less refined and processed which would make it healthier. In many cases this color comes from being sprayed with molasses, which adds carbohydrates.
